Access Guide For Downs Barn Farm

Downs Barn Farm is perfect for a peaceful holiday with lovely rural views to the sea. We have two contemporary self-catering barns which were converted in 2014 and two bed & breakfast rooms in the farmhouse. All are situated on our working arable and beef farm on the south coast of West Cornwall. We are in a rural area 4 miles from Lands End and 6 miles from our nearest town, Penzance. The village of St Buryan is 1.5 miles where there is a pub, shop, post office and garage.
There are several supermarkets in Penzance which deliver to our cottages. There are also farmers markets in the area.
The farm is well signposted and accessed from the B3315 coast road via a 300metre tarmac and concrete lane.

For full details and maps of how to reach us please see the directions section of our website. If you are using a satnav please use our postcode: TR19 6DG. Please note that some satnav’s will bring you to the wrong entrance to the farm so please make sure you are on the entrance on the B3315.
By rail – our nearest station is Penzance which is 6 miles away. Taxi’s are available at the station.
The nearest bus stop is a ten minute walk. Our service is the 1A and covers the area from Penzance to Lands End. The buses are about every hour in the summer but less frequent during the winter months.

We live on site and will be here to greet you on arrival which is from 3.30 to 5.30pm. Late arrivals can be arranged in advance.
There is designated parking for the cottages and farmhouse and space for boats, bikes, surfing equipment etc by arrangement

Self-Catering Barns
Bridie’s Barn
On arrival you will be shown around the property. Your welcome pack consists of a home-made Cornish Cream Tea and we provide milk, tea & coffee to get you started.
Parking is in a designated graveled area to the back of the cottage. There is a 10 mtr walk over a paved and graveled pathway leading to the level paved patio and the entrance to Bridie’s Barn.
There are two ways to access the cottage. Either via the front door or through the 3mtr wide bifold doors. There is a 3 inch step over the threshold.
The entrance leads directly into the living area which has a fully tiled floor and is well lit with led ceiling lights and side lamps.
Living area – Kitchen/lounge/diner:
The lounge area has a large leather chaise sofa, coffee table, tv/audio table, 42″ Smart tv, ipod dock, blueray/dvd plyer. The area is lit with ceiling lights and movable lamps. The lounge area faces the fields and the sea with lovely views through the large bifold doors. These can be completely opened up to access the large patio. All the furniture is moveable and there is ample space to move around.
The dining area is in the living room and has a round glass topped dining table with two chairs. The dining chairs have no arms but the wooden patio chairs do have arms and can be used indoors if necessary.
The dining furniture is moveable.
The well equipped kitchen is in the main living area. Appliances include a fridge, freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave and cooker.

Outside facilities:
The cottage front opens out onto a private patio which is level and paved. There is a large lawned area in front of the patio. There is a patio table, two chairs, two sun loungers and a charcoal bbq.
Skylarks
On arrival you will be shown around the property. Your welcome pack consists of a home-made Cornish Cream Tea and we provide milk, tea & coffee to get you started.
Parking is in a designated graveled area to the side of the property. There is a 10 mtr walk to the front door of Skylarks. Up four, wide steps with a hand height granite wall on each side, onto the level, paved patio to the entrance.
Entry can be made via the front door or through the 3mtr wide bifold doors. There is a 3 inch step over the threshold.
The entrance leads directly into the living area which has a fully tiled floor and is well lit with led ceiling lights and side lamps.

Farmhouse Bed & Breakfast Rooms
Parking:
There is designated graveled parking immediately outside the house and space for boats etc by arrangement.
The entrance to the farmhouse is 10 mtrs over a level paved patio. There is one step to the front door.
On arrival you will be welcomed and help will be offered with bags. A complimentary homemade Cornish Cream Tea is served in the garden or guest lounge.
Main Entrance: The main entrance leads into a small porch area.
The guest sitting room is immediately to the left and the dining room to the right on the ground floor. Access to the bedrooms is via a carpeted staircase with 12 steps and handrail on the right hand side.
Dining Room:
The spacious dining room is accessed via a lounge area and through double doors with a 1” threshold. The large walnut table seats 10 and there are a selection of chairs with or without arms. The room is carpeted and looks out over the garden.
Guest Sitting Room:
A comfortable room with two leather sofas, coffee table, side tables, tv and dvd player. There is an open fire which is lit on cooler evenings.
There are a selection of maps and books on the local area.
A fridge is available in this room for the use of guests.
Bedrooms
Nanjizal:
Immediately at the top of the stairs on the left.
This room has a vaulted ceiling with exposed beams and an en-suite shower room
The room is carpeted and has a 5ft double bed, bedside tables, dressing table & stool, built in wardrobe and chair.
Microfibre duvets & pillow with 100% cotton bed linen.
The en-suite has a tiled floor, a 900mm corner shower, wash basin and toilet.
Tea making facilities, hairdryer, towels & toiletries are provided. There is a fridge for guests use in the lounge. There is a variety of lighting with dimmers, spotlights and bedside lights.
There are views from the window over the garden and looking towards Lands End and the sea in the distance.
St Loy:
To the right at the top of the stairs and 4mtrs along a carpeted hallway There is a slight slope half way along where the levels change.
The door to St Loy leads into a small hall area with the en-suite bathroom door to the left and the bedroom door straight ahead.
St Loy has a carpeted bedroom with 5 ft. bed, bedside tables, chest of drawers, side table, chair & wardrobe.
Microfibre duvet & pillows with 100% cotton bed linen.
There is a variety of lighting with dimmers, spotlights and bedside lights.
The en-suite bathroom has a travertine tiled floor and window with views over the rear garden. It has a free standing roll top bath, 850mm corner shower, wash basin & toilet.
Tea making facilities, hairdryer, towels & toiletries are provided. There is a fridge for guests use in the lounge.
The window looks out over fields to the sea in the distance.
